Zeer geachte Heer Wellenstein,
Gisteren heb ik reeds aan Uw adres aangetekend verzonden de Duitse en Nederlandse drukproeven alsmede de daarbij behorende exemplaren van de gestencilde tekst. Ik geloof dat nadere uitleg daarbij niet nodig zal zijn. Vandaag heb ik dan nog verzonden de Franse tekst en drukproeven en de résumés in de vier talen. Ik heb er geen bezwaar tegen, dat deze afgedrukt worden, ofschoon zij eigenlijk niet geheel passen bij de rest van de tekst. Met name de herhaling van de mededeling omtrent de instelling van de commissie zou eigenlijk beter kunnen wegvallen. Ik zou U willen vragen om, indien U met mijn opmerkingen bij de Nederlandse en Duitse teksten accoord gaat, dienovereenkomstige wijzigingen in de Franse en Italiaanse teksten te willen aanbrengen; met name geldt dit voor het uniform maken van de termen gebruikt in het prijsschema en de tekst en voor het schrappen van een zin aan het einde van hoofdstuk I. Ook het in twee zinnen splitsen van een buitengewoon lange zin in het begin van hoofdstuk V.

Dear Mr. Wellenstein,
Yesterday I already sent by registered mail to your address the German and Dutch proofs as well as the accompanying copies of the mimeographed text. I believe that further explanation will not be necessary. Today I have also sent the French text and proofs and the summaries in the four languages. I have no objection to these being printed, although they do not actually fit entirely with the rest of the text. In particular, the repetition of the announcement regarding the establishment of the commission could actually better be omitted. I would like to ask you, if you agree with my comments on the Dutch and German texts, to make corresponding changes in the French and Italian texts; in particular, this applies to making the terms used in the price schedule and the text uniform and to deleting a sentence at the end of Chapter I. Also the splitting into two sentences of an exceptionally long sentence at the beginning of Chapter V.
