PROF. DR JAN TINBERGEN THE HAGUE, January 30, 1954
Sijzenlaan 41
The Pennsylvania Company,
Chestnut Street and 15th Street,
Philadelphia (Pa)
Gentlemen,
Having lived for some 3 months in Haverford (Pa), 3 College Lane, I have an account with your Bank. I am Dutch citizen and will have to liquidate this account after having made some final payments. The Netherlands' authorities do not permit to send cheques by letter, but I am permitted to regulate these final payments. This is why I am writing to you with the following requests. Could you, please, send a cheque of
1) $ 2.73 to The Bell Telephone Company of Pennsylvania, adding: "Concerning telephone number MI 9-9444"
2) $ 3.48 to Mr Jan van Wijk, c/o United Nations, adding: "For 3 UN recipe booklets plus postage"
3) $ 50.00 to Haverford College, adding: "For Student Help Fund, according to letter of January 30, 1954".
After having done so and having charged my account for whatever I am owing you, could you, please, send a cheque to me at my present address for the remaining balance?
I want to express my sincere thanks for the service you gave me and I am
yours very sincerely,
