Zeer geachte Mejuffrouw Goris,
Hartelijk dank voor Uw brieven, waaruit ik zag dat U van Uw verblijf in Amerika een goed en niet te eenzijdig gebruik hebt gemaakt. Ik had inmiddels ook reeds in de serie van de Cowles Commission papers Uw samenvatting ontvangen. Ik ben nl. op die serie geabonneerd. Het lijkt mij geen enkel bezwaar te ontmoeten, dat U Uw ontwerp toezendt aan enige deskundigen; dit kan men met publicatie niet gelijk stellen. Voor een proefschrift geldt alleen, dat het niet elders mag zijn gepubliceerd. Gaat U dus gerust Uw gang.
Wij zijn benieuwd om U hier weer terug te zien en te horen van Uw indrukken.

Dear Miss Goris,
Thank you very much for your letters, from which I saw that you have made good and not too one-sided use of your stay in America. In the meantime, I had also already received your summary in the series of Cowles Commission papers. I am, in fact, subscribed to that series. I see no objection at all to you sending your draft to some experts; this cannot be equated with publication. For a dissertation, the only rule is that it must not have been published elsewhere. So please go ahead.
We are looking forward to seeing you back here and hearing about your impressions.
