Hierbij deel ik U mede dat ik het zeer op prijs zou stellen indien ik een deviezenvergunning zou kunnen verkrijgen tot het invoeren van 10 pakken Nabisco 100 per cent Bran, een artikel dat voor de gezondheid van mijn vrouw onvervangbaar blijkt te zijn. De prijs van de pakken tezamen beloopt ongeveer $ 3, waarbij verzendingskosten zullen komen die, naar ik aanneem, enige dollars niet te boven zullen gaan. Waar ik dit jaar een aanzienlijk dollarovershot ten bate van Nederland heb kunnen produceren, hoop ik dat mijn verzoek geen bezwaar ontmoet.

Gentlemen,
I hereby inform you that I would greatly appreciate it if I could obtain a foreign exchange permit for the import of 10 packages of Nabisco 100 per cent Bran, an item that appears to be irreplaceable for my wife's health. The price of the packages together amounts to approximately $ 3, to which shipping costs will be added which, I assume, will not exceed a few dollars. Since I have been able to produce a significant dollar surplus for the benefit of the Netherlands this year, I hope that my request will meet with no objection.
