My dear Frisch,
Thank you very much for yours of August 5. I quite see your point about the lags and I take it that in these lags life time figures for capital goods will play an important role. You may have seen that in Leontief's new book ( Studies on the Structure of the American Economy) an attempt has been made at estimating some of these figures. I understand from your letter that any statistical material on this aspect of the matter does not yet exist in Norway. We have not got it either. On the other hand, however, I think it is not only a question of time lags, but also of "volume of capital" per unit of product, with which I take it you would agree.
I shall not be in Rome or at any of the other congresses; I am going to lecture in the United States for about three months.
Meanwhile I read your little article about the bees and their "job classification". I think my wife understood your P.S.
