Ons medelid Van Gelder van de Akademie vroeg mij wie hem zou kunnen helpen aan bepaalde historisch-technische gegevens over de landbouw; bijv. welke oppervlakte voor een landbouwbedrijf de optimale was enkele eeuwen geleden. Ik trachtte Horring, de leider van het Landbouw-Economisch Instituut hierover te benaderen, doch hij is in Amerika. Mag ik het nu over de historische boeg gooien en vragen of jij iemand zou weten, die de heer Van Gelder zou kunnen ter zijde staan?

Our fellow member Van Gelder of the Academy asked me who could help him with certain historical-technical data on agriculture; e.g. what area was optimal for a farm a few centuries ago. I tried to approach Horring, the leader of the Agricultural-Economic Institute about this, but he is in America. May I now take the historical approach and ask if you would know someone who could assist Mr. Van Gelder?
