Dear Hoffmann,
It has turned out that the hotels are all fully booked; in the hope that this is acceptable to you, we have therefore booked a room for your wife and yourself at the "Institute of Social Studies". Foreign scholars often stay there and I believe I can recommend the stay to you.
A small further complication has arisen; they would very much like to see me for dinner on the 9th at this institute, because on that same day Prof. Palvia will be receiving his doctorate at the University of Rotterdam. They would also like to invite both of you to it and I hope that you will enjoy it. The students at the institute are very kind people, for the most part from India. In connection with this, I would like to postpone the personal invitation to lunch on the 10th, in the hope that this would suit you. If the 10th does not suit you, but July 9th does, that would also suit us quite well. May I ask for a short message as to which date you prefer?

Lieber Hoffmann,
Es hat sich herausgestellt dass die Hotels alle vollbesetzt sind; in der Hoffnung dass Ihnen das recht ist haben wir deshalb ein Zimmer für Ihre Frau Gemahlin und Sie im "Institute of Social Studies" bestellt. Es wohnen dort öfters ausländische Gelehrten und ich glaube Ihnen den Aufenthalt empfehlen zu können.
Es hat sich noch eine kleine weitere Komplikation vorgetan; man möchte mich doch wohl sehr gerne zu Abendessen sehen am 9. in diesem Institut, weil am selben Tag gerade Prof. Palvia zu Doktor promovieren wird an der Hochschule zu Rotterdam. Man möchte auch gerne Sie beide dazu einladen und ich hoffe dass das Ihnen Spass macht. Die Studenten im Institut sind sehr liebenswürdige Leute zum grössten Teil aus Indien. In Zusammenhang damit möchte ich die persönliche Einladung auf das Mittagessen am 10. verschieben, in der Hoffnung dass Ihnen das passen würde. Wenn Ihnen der 10. nicht passen würde, aber der 9. Juli wohl, so würde uns das auch ganz gut passen. Darf ich noch um eine kurze Nachricht bitten welches Datum Sie vorziehen ?
