Zeer geachte Heer Sluizer,
Het is wel onnodig om U te zeggen hoezeer ik verrast was door Uw brief van 31 januari die mij berichtte dat mij de Erasmusprijs 1967 zal worden toegekend.
Mag ik U vragen om het Bestuur van de Stichting daarvoor mijn grote dank over te brengen.
Ik zal zelf Z.K.H. mijn dank tot uitdrukking brengen.
Intussen heb ik al even contact gehad met Uw bureau over een mogelijke verdere bespreking en ik wacht graag Uw beslissing af over de tijd en plaats die U het beste schikt.

It is quite unnecessary to tell you how surprised I was by your letter of 31 January, which informed me that the Erasmus Prize 1967 will be awarded to me.
May I ask you to convey my great thanks to the Board of the Foundation for this.

In the meantime, I have already had some contact with your office regarding a possible further discussion, and I look forward to your decision on the time and place that suits you best.
