My dear Meade,
I got your letter of June 14, but it took me some time to find the right candidate since I am not myself lecturing to the younger generation of students at our school. With the help of some of my colleagues I think I have now found an excellent young man whose name is L.F. MANNEKE (c/o The Netherlands Economic Institute, Pieter de Hoochweg 120, Rotterdam). Mr Manneke passed, what we call, "het candidaatsexamen", which is at about the same level as the B.A. examination, and since worked for a year at the Netherlands Economic Institute where he somewhat exercised statistical methods and got in contact also with econometrics of which he has already a year of courses. He is well-infomed about Dutch conditions and as many of our students interested in Benelux development. I recommend him warmly and if you want more specific information I shall be glad to supply it. May I take it that you will write personally to Mr Manneke or shall I act as an intermediary ?
I am myself, of course, also very much interested in your program and curious to hear, after it will have been completed, your judgment about Benelux developments.
It was good to hear from you. All of us are very well. My eldest daughter is married since almost a year now but continuing her studies of physics, and the second one is engaged to a nice young man. There are some plans for us to go to India in the next autumn for a couple of months. I hope your family is also in good health.
