Zeer geachte Heer Mulder,
Nog twee punten dienen in het rapport voor de verzekeringsmaatschappijen te worden behandeld.
In de eerste plaats of het investeringsniveau wel voldoende hoog is; daarbij zou men zich op de laatste industrialisatie-nota moeten baseren.
In de tweede plaats heeft men ons verzocht nog iets te zeggen over de moeilijkheden, die bij een omslag van de wereld-conjunctuur zouden kunnen voorkomen. Dit is uiteraard een voorbeeld van een ontwikkeling op korte termijn en hier zou met recht gewezen kunnen worden op het feit dat in zulke omstandigheden loonsverlaging, dus ev. ook verlaging van sociale lasten, nodig kan zijn. Er zal echter aan toegevoegd moeten worden, dat de strijd tegen een internationale depressie in hoofdzaak op andere terreinen moet worden gevoerd en wel op het terrein van de coördinatie van de financiële politiek der grote

landen.

Two more points need to be addressed in the report for the insurance companies.
In the first place, whether the investment level is sufficiently high; this should be based on the latest industrialization memo.
In the second place, we have been requested to say something about the difficulties that could occur in the event of a reversal in the global economic cycle. This is naturally an example of a short-term development and here it could rightly be pointed out that in such circumstances wage reduction, and thus possibly also reduction of social burdens, may be necessary. It must be added, however, that the fight against an international depression must mainly be conducted in other areas, namely in the area of coordination of the financial policy of the large
