Amice,
Dank voor je brief van 23 April. Ik ben niet geheel zeker of je me goed begrepen hebt; mijn inzichten omtrent de studie in Amerika zijn maar partieel en mijn brief ging eigenlijk alleen over mijn eigen vak. Dat neemt niet weg dat ik natuurlijk toch wel indrukken heb opgedaan omtrent de andere vakken. Ik zal Woensdagmiddag proberen naar Rotterdam te komen om te zien of ik je daar nog tref. Blijf echter niet langer als je bedoeling was, want ik ben niet geheel zeker of het mij lukt. Intussen zul je in de loop van de volgende week wel de nota van collega Theil ontvangen, waarom het in 't bijzonder gaat. Is er nog enige kans dat je de 15e aanwezig zult zijn, wanneer wij de curatoren ontmoeten ?

Thank you for your letter of April 23. I am not entirely sure if you understood me correctly; my insights regarding the study in America are only partial and my letter was actually only about my own field. That does not change the fact that I have, of course, gained impressions regarding the other subjects. I will try to come to Rotterdam on Wednesday afternoon to see if I can still find you there. However, do not stay longer than you intended, because I am not entirely sure if I will succeed. In the meantime, in the course of next week, you will likely receive the note from colleague Theil, which is what it is particularly about. Is there still any chance that you will be present on the 15th, when we meet the curators?
