Prof. Tibor Scitovsky,
The Beeches,
High Street,
Trumpington, Cambs.
Dear Scitovsky,
Excuse me for not having answered your letter of March 23. We had, however, to ask permission to the Minister of Economic Affairs since some slight financial costs are involved. In principle it would be a great pleasure for us to have you here and we could offer you a contribution in your costs of displacement of f 100.- plus a honorarium of f 100.- for the lecture which we would be anxious to have from you. There are, however, a few complications; Both Verdoorn and I are absent. Verdoorn has gone to Surinam for about 6 weeks, and just today I learned that I will have to be in Paris exactly that week. No doubt, however, you will find a number of people here who are interested in problems of international integration and some other problems we discussed. As far as we are concerned you would therefore certainly be welcome, although personally I, of course, prefer also to meet you. If your visit could be in the beginning of the next week ( the one starting the 26th of April) I at least should be back. Perhaps you let us know what your preference is. As soon as we have your answer we shall try to book a room for you according to your wishes.
I hope you are all well.
With best wishes,
