Amice,
Zoals ik beloofde kom ik nog even terug op de vraag of het nuttig zou zijn voor het onderzoek dat het Mathematisch Centrum t.b.v. de Delta-commissie verricht, dat je de daarin vervatte denkbeelden nogeens ter sprake brengt op de jaarlijkse Europese bijeenkomst van The Econometric Society te Uppsala. Inderdaad geloof ik dat het nuttig is, omdat daar een aantal onderzoekers bijeen zullen zijn, die zich voor de beginselen van dit soort onderzoek interesseren. Het enige wat ik niet weet is of er nog plaats in het programma zal zijn. Dat zou door correspondentie met Wold moeten worden vastgesteld. Wij hebben ons namelijk op het standpunt gesteld, dat een programma niet te uitgebreid moet zijn en willen daaraan ook enigszins vasthouden omdat anders de bespreking toch te oppervlakkig blijft. In verband daarmede is ook de eis gesteld dat vóór een bepaalde datum een korte Engelse inhoud beschikbaar wordt gesteld. Dit alles heeft Wold in handen en hij kan m.i. het beste de beslissing nemen.

Dear Friend,
As I promised, I am returning for a moment to the question of whether it would be useful for the research that the Mathematical Center is performing for the Delta Commission, for you to bring up the ideas contained therein once again at the annual European meeting of The Econometric Society in Uppsala. Indeed, I believe it is useful, because a number of researchers will be gathered there who are interested in the principles of this type of research. The only thing I do not know is whether there will still be room in the program. That would have to be determined through correspondence with Wold. We have, in fact, taken the position that a program should not be too extensive and want to stick to that somewhat because otherwise the discussion remains too superficial. In connection with that the requirement has also been set that a short English summary be made available before a certain date. Wold has all of this in hand and he can, in my opinion, best make the decision.
