Professor E.A.G. Robinson, Marshall Library, Downing Street, Cambridge
My dear Robinson,
Since I understand that my lectures have been announced already may I come back on the subject ? Please, let me know if the further discussions in the Faculty Board have led to the acceptance of my subject or whether they would prefer another theme. It is my intention to arrive on Friday 26 by night boat and to proceed to Cambridge at the earliest opportunity. So I assume to be in Cambridge at lunch time. If it would be possible for you to reserve a single room for me (not too expensive, please !) I would be most grateful. It is my intention to spend one night in Oxford, presumably the one between Sunday 28 and Monday 29 October. Could you please also let me know whether I am expected to have formal dress with me or can I do without ? In view of duties at home it will be necessary for me to go back on November the 3d early.
jf
I am looking forward to see your colleagues and to have interesting discussions with them all. Please, give my best regards also to [Mrs.] Robinson.
Yours very sincerely,
