Professor Ragnar Frisch,
Un ive rs i te te ts SölTaldkonomi s ke
Institutt,
Karl Johans Gate 3.
Oslo.
Icly dear Frisch,
Back in Holland I want to thank you once more
for the splendid days I had in Oslo. I think it was extremely
pleasant and useful. I have the feeling to have learned very
much both about your work and mine and about Norv/ay's practica.'
problems. Please, give ny thanks also to Haavelmo and your
collaborators.
With this letter I am sending you the first of
a few notes I a?r. preparing (as you will probably also do) in
order to consolidate the results of our discussions. Other oneö
will follow therefore. In aimexl Itried to formulate in my
own words what seems to me to be the essence of your index
number proposal. Before passing this to Idenburg I would like
very much to have your comTr^ents. Annex II tries very shortly
indeed to su'Timarize the question we discussed the last evening
in the country.
As soon as I have got back my notes (which are in
the famous "case" with printed matter you have sent on for me)
I shall re-write my memorandum using the new notation adopted
by the "World Conference".
As to the latter we already agreed, I think, on
sending the results to Koopmans; I wonder whether it would not
be good to send them to Stone and to address the letter for
Koopmans at the same time to Marschak.
With all good wishes,
yours very sincerely
