Nobelprizewinners Programme to Stop Child Exploitation

Dear mrs. Reddy,
I have spoken with mr. Knippenberg and with other Boardmembers of the Nobel
Prizewinners Programme on Child Exploitation.
Enclosed I am also sending you the recent 'launching declaration' of the more than
hundred Nobel Prizewinners that now are involved in this initiative.
It seems clear that the proposed activities of our initiative are very different from the aims
of the working group that you represent.
So it now appears to me that, contrary to what I assumed after only hearing your
comments, there is and should be no cause for any 'competition'. On the contrary, the
situation of many millions of children in the world only justifies the strongest possible
cooperation between all agencies and organisations concerned.
Our initiative has offered you, and the working group you represent, this cooperation
already.
And other members of the working group have already stated their full support and
cooperation towards our initiative. So it seems that you act on your personal instigation
and not on behalf of the working group as you informed me.
But also from you personally we really do want full support and cooperation. As hundreds
of individuals and many dozens of local NGOs in the industrializing countries, as well as
organisations like the UN (mr. Boutros Ghaii), UNICEF (mr. James Grant) and the ILO (mr.
Hansenne) have all stated their full support for our initiative.
Because they all agree that far more has to be done than currently is being undertaken to
stop this global drama.
I suggested to mr. Knippenberg as I hereby suggest to you, that we all put our personal
differences aside and fully cooperate in our mutual aim to try and stop the exploitation of
children worldwide.
Mr. Knippenberg will personally contact you soon on behalf of our initiative, and work out
with you in which ways our initiative, you personally, and the working group can cooperate
and support each other.
I fully trust both of you will come to an understanding that is beneficial to the mutual
cause, and especially to the millions of children involved.
