Dear Professor Bums,
In reply to your telegram i cabled
that I hope to be in the USA during the last 3 months
of this year. I shall be at Haverford College near
Philadelphia where I shall probably be taken from Monday
to Wednesday. I have to return, however, to Holland
towards the end of December and I do not think that jrou
would be helped out with a substitute for only 3 months.
For my part I would be willing to consider the possibility
of giving certain lectures or short courses during that
time, if that would be of some use to your Universitjr, I
assTime, however, that thif does not éieet your problem.
I want to thank you very much for
the honor :^ou did me to consider me as a possible substitute.
