Dear Mr Thewathia,
From your letter of U'ebruary 19 1 undei»stand that you are Interested in the possToility
to spend 3orae time at the Institute of Social
Studies at the Hague. It may hs useful tlierefore
to tell you that the selection of candidates this
last year was made on the basis of judgments
from the Indian universities who proposed their
best students. I don't think that it is possiole
to make a selection here in Holland since we evidently never would succeed in comparing candidates
with students that are not applied. It is, however»
doubtful whether the same procedure will at all
be followed in the near future since the Y\?hol©
system of education on the institute is under
discussion. I am not able therefore to toll
you very much definite about selection problems
but all I can suggest is that you send in a formal
opplication '«hich v/ill then run its usual way.
Please, sive ray best re^Tards to Mr Nag
and accept my best y/ishes for your ovm exarnination.
Yours very sincerely.
