Dear Phil,
It vms a great pleasure to get your
letter of June 18 with all the good news. The
time of strain you had must have ^een formidahle
and I hope that by now you will have somewhat
"been reë^ored. It is fine that you get yowp
dissertation ready, and I am looking forward to
read it some time later if it would he available.
If you really want to have some more
books I shall he glad to cash the cheque hoping
that you won't forget to inform me. liiany thanks

I am forwarding to you the article by
Schouten and myself \:*iich is in German, It was
of course my sincere opinion that I would very
much like you to he here and working with us.
I quite see that you have to have Hovirard Teaf ^s
permission first, hut whenever you are able
to ccene you will be very welcome. If you happen
to have a cte.nce to be here in January, don*t
forget to stop here and see some of my colleagues.
It is not certain that I shall be here myself^
this depends on the real i25ation of ray trip to
India, which is not certain yet.
The news about yoiar adopted son was,
of course, the best news of all and we hope that
he is doing very v/ell, Vife enjoyed very much what
you told about Susan, and you may be sure that
v/e often think of our nice visit to your home,
