May I take the liberty to approach
you with the following affair ?
Since 1^ year we have at The Hague
an Institute of Social Studies, founded
by the Netherlands universities; I am rayself
one of the teachers at this institute.
Among the students is Mr A, Mitra who at
present is writing a doctor thesis under
my direction. His work has been very good
and he has shown f^ood understa>-Kiing for
statistical research as well as for the
xinderlying economic relations. Mr Mitra
tells me that he is applying for a research
post at the ministry of Finance in India,
Having had the pleasure of meeting you
during my visit to India in Deceinber 1951
I take the liberty of recowaending Mr Mitra
to you, I hope it will be possible to
employ Mr Mitra in statistical and economic
research for which his enthusiaaie and
his qualities are clear.
