Dear Dr. Ghosh,
I am afraid I did not give any comments on
your letter of 20 May 1953. My difficulty is that
your approach is purely statistical, but hardly
economic. It was not quite clear for me therefore.
¥hat the economic problem is, in which you are
interested and to whfi<t^ your thesis makes a
contribution. oI4ay be that you have described this
economic problem elsewhere. If so I shall be glad
to comment upon it. Since I suppose that the copy
of your thesis you sij§t to me is your own copy I
return it under separate cover.
