I ara sorry it took me q.uite some
time after my return to Holland to give you a more
final answer to your letter of October 27, 1953,
concerning Mr Sasraann. I first investigated whether
we could offer him a position either in the Netherland Economic Institute or at the Central Planning
Bureau, but it appeared that it was impossible,
Oiir next step has been to inform
ourselves about the possibilities for Mr Basiaarm to
cane to Holland v/ith a fellowship. It appears that
there are two such possibilities, namely:
1• the Dutch Government makes available every year
3 fellowships for students of the United States,
among them 2 allowing to spend ƒ 2000 + exemption
frcan university fees. Such a fellowship should be
applied for vath the Institute of International
Education, East 6? Street 1, l^ew York,
2, the other possibility seems to be the Pullbright
progranrne. About this chance information may be got
from the Jj\illbright inforsnant in his own university,
R The suggestion made to us was tliat an application
should be made for following courses at the i^^etherlanda
School of Economics (Rotterdam) cutabined with x)ractical
work at the Central PlarinAng Bureau (the Hague).
