Dear Sir,
Acknowledging the receipt of your letter of
ll September 12, 1950, concerning ?fr R. Slot, I am able
to give you the following information.
rir Roelof Slot entered the Netherland School of
Economics in 19^-0 and took his first degree (an approximate
equivalent of B.A.) in 19*+3 "with honours". He came back in
19^+5 and he took his second degree (perhaps best to be seen
as a master degree, but only to be held after passing the
prescribed examinations) also "with honours". During this
second part of his study he took as the main course
business-economy and as additional courses oriantal economy
and industrial econom-y.
My colleague. Prof. Lambers, virho knows hin very well,
told me that he is brought up in a rather strict Protestant
fanily, and that he seems to be a somewhat stiff man. He
is very cautious in expressing his scientific opinion, and
has become less and less dogmatic in his scientific judgements .

He is analytically gif teö^ and his writings are
quite readable. He is working on his thesis on the controverse in the marginal price theory. His every day ?7ork is with
the Research Department of the Netherlands Bank, Amsterdam,
Mr Slot in in many \vays a theoretically well-trained
man whom we cs,n strongly recommend.
